AlNiCo Magnets Overview

AlNiCo magnetic material is an alloy of Aluminum-Nickel-Cobalt which possesses an excellent temperature stability and high residual induction. AlNiCo magnets have a low Coercive Force that limits their applications in many cases. Casting and sintering are two major processes used to manufacture the AlNiCo magnets.

  • Temperature factor of Br is the smallest among all the permanent magnets

  • Tooling for cast AlNiCo magnets is relatively low, since sand molds are generally used for the casting process.

  • Density - 7.34 g/cm3
  • Manufacturing process - casting (most common), or sintering.
  • Various shapes- blocks, bars, discs, rings, horseshoes, cylinders, etc.
  • Wide range of grades- from about 0105 to 0519. (First 2 digits represent BH.max, and second two digits represent Intrinsic Coercivity, Hci.)
  • Saturation magnetizing field required - about 5kOe.
